Sign Of The Times
It seems to be a sign of the times, at least here in South Florida where I live. I opened the Miami Herald classified this morning while sipping my cuppa joe to see that yet another of my antiquing haunts is headed into extinction the way of the horse and buggy. Sorta sad since I have been in the antique business for longer than most, and some of my favorite pieces in my personal collection come from this guy's shoppe. I have noticed that in Miami the antiques that seem to be coveted are "Vintage Moderne", which must describe me...as I am a child of the era that the stuff is from!
Ah well....another one bites the dust. I guess I will have to pay James a visit and see if there is anything that I just can't live without.
Have a wonderful weekend, and if you are a Shabbyfufu customer who popped by to read the blog today~I am posting some "Exquisitely Romantic" pieces this morning!
XOXO~ Janet

Janet, I know! I live in Southwest Florida, and it's just so sad here too! The "flea market" is really scary, nothing fun! :) Let's find some new places!
Hi Janet,
Ahh, this is sad. Same thing happened to our dear friend, Robert. I do hope that you'll find some pieces dear to your heart in the store while there, but it sounds like you have some real treasures and lots of memories from the store already ;)
Have a beautiful weekend!

It's a sign of the times over here in Australia too, I laughed about "Vintage Moderne" that's my era too!
Hi Janet,
Seems like all the good antique shops are few & far between these days. I have been going to antique shops since I was a young girl with my mother & grandmother & selling them for 18 years and I have seen things change alot. Hope you find a new place to find old things.
Hi Janet,
Tis so sad to see this but afraid it is happening just about everywhere. Have a glorious weekend.
Hugs,
LeAnn :)
I wonder if the style of decorating is changing a bit or if the dealers can't hold on anymore with the economy the way it is.... Tis quite sad indeed...
Feels like an end of an era

Not so good news there, here in jacksonville we have a few, I really have to travel to Micanopy, Mt Dora and webster to find good ones. Talk soon! Hugs, Kimberly
So sorry Janet, when another one goes down it is like a death! Our huge antiques mall closed here in PO about 3 months ago, Victoria and I were so sad! Then low and behold!!! TAH DAH!...New 2 You opens it's doors, I am so happy that someone stepped in to fill the empty space in my antiquing heart! I will pray some new places will spring up there for you, hope you are having a blessed weekend!

Aaawww...it is sad, isn't it.
I just notice that my favorite little antique store is closing up shop, too. The owner is so sweet and would hold any fabric she got in aside, until I could see it.
That store and its lovely owner will be missed. :(
Kimberly :)

Ughhh, it really is a Tough Time, isn't it. This is Character building time I tell myself. That must pull at your strings though. Things are closing right and left here too in Southern Cali. Hope you have a Great Weekend, Jamie
Hi Janet! I've noticed the same thing happening up here in St. Pete...the best places are closing. Not really sure what's going on but this is cutting into my FUN : ( Hope you are having a great weekend otherwise. xoxo ~ Joy
Hi Janet, that's how it is here as well. I went to a favorite shop the other day and it wasn't there anymore! I hadn't been in a while and poof it's gone. Times are sure tough but friendly bloggers are great to have.
