Dear friends.....this is a slightly edited repost of a TUTORIAL that I did last year that I thought would be fun to share with you once again. You can use this as a jumping off point for creating your own sweet vignette:
Just start by purchasing one of those plastic or foam pumpkins that are available at the craft stores...and actually are On Sale now with the Christmas merchandise coming in. Take a sharp knife (I used my overpriced Cutco~eeeks!) and slice carefully in half. Then fill with your favorite bits and bobs to create a Halloween or Fall vignette.
The first step was to spray paint the inside of the pumpkin with primer, as the color was kind of yucky I thought. Then cover up the ugly cut mark, so in this case I glued on some gathered and sewn crepe paper from my studio stash. I started the actual design with one of my frozen Charlotte doll heads and tea dyed some of French ribbon and then created a ribbon rose to use for her body. She needed a hat, which I made from vintage wallpaper and crepe dusted with pink mica flakes. Secured into the pumpkin I decided to create a bottle brush Halloween tree from a discarded Easter tree that I had...painting and glittering with black German glass glitter. Then I added some black shiny shreds for a bit of creepiness (lol!) to all of this sweetness, more crepe, vintage millinery flowers, French feathers, scrunchy ribbon....etc, etc. Lastly I glittered the back lightly (which I just realized I don't have a photo of:-) and then secured the piece into a tattered old Silver plate compote for some height.

I hope that you like this project and maybe try something with your own sliced pumpkin. Just don't use a REAL one!!
xoxo~

Hello Janet! You have no idea how thrilled I was to read that you visited my blog!! I have been a fan of your shop for years long before I dreamed of starting my own. I think I would look at it everyday and admire it! Your site is so beautiful and your creations are stunning. I love your photos and your sweet descriptions. I drool over every thing : ) So you were an art teacher? That is so cool! I am far from a teacher but I dream of having workshops and teaching crafts. I work a lot with my kids and volunteer in their classes. I admire you a lot and hope to one day be as successful as you have become. What a treat this has been to chat with you and I hope that we can keep in touch! Congratulations on Romantic Country ~ one of my fav's! I look forward to seeing your article : )
