Parting....Sweet Sorrow

Hello to all. Are you looking forward to the weekend? I know that I am and need to spend some time in my studio creating some things for my website. It's been awhile and I'm itching to get ideas out of my head and made.

Here are some pretty lamp shades that I just made for a custom order.....

I've started listing a few more things from my personal collection on the website. I guess you might call it downsizing, even though as far as I know we aren't moving anytime soon. I'll be listing some gorgeous pieces...china, rugs, lots of pink roses, etc. Parting with some of these will be sweet sorrow....

I've been a collector for decades now and my days of antique shows (both buying and as a seller) are not as frequent now as they used to be. Garage sales and thrifting just don't hold the thrill for me that they used to. I'm not totally giving up, just slowing down the pace. Clearing out the house and my head.

There are lots of other passions in life to enjoy and the time has come to enjoy more of them, while still working on my site....just maybe not as much...

Sewing, painting......perhaps getting back to drawing and sketching, my art degree roots are calling as the years go by. I'm expanding my camera cache and working on my photography and Photoshop skills.

And travels......
I'm passionate about travel and seeing the world! I have been very fortunate to have done lots of it over the years and certainly hope to do even more. In fact....there is a trip coming up very soon, and one that I seem to take every year lately with my strong connection to this city where I've been often and have family ties.

Yes, I'll be off to Paris soon and now that our daughter is living there the family connection continues over the generations. Now......I did say that I don't go antiquing or flea market shopping that much anymore.....but I definitely will go flea marketing in Paris and I know lots of the best places to do just that! More on my trip later......

One last mention that unless you are living under a blog rock that you certainly know of by now. Romantic Prairie Style by Fifi ONeill is available for preorder, and you can go right to Amazon to reserve your copy! I have a link on my sidebar.

Fifi had asked me to do some sewing for her guest cottage, and I'm happy to say that some of my work is shown in the book in her cottage.....and I'll have more of it available on my website soon. So into the studio I go........

Don't forget that I still have a couple of sponsor spots available on the blog, so click on the sidebar buttons for those if interested.

Talk soon....enjoy your weekend,
~xoxo~

Hi Janet,
Just saw your tweet that you've posted so I ran right over. Oh such beautiful things I'm sure are on their way to your website from your personal collection. It's wonderful you're practicing your beautiful art though and appreciating all things to their fullest (not that you didn't already though ;) How fun your Paris trip will be and I know I can't wait to see/hear all about it through your eyes.

I can say that the table runners are beautiful from personal experience as you know, one is here in my petite maison and it's more than lovely. Fifi's photos are beautiful but to touch and feel the gorgeous piece is a dream. I know folks will be wanting you to stock them in your store!

Have a great weekend! I'm off for the birthday celebrations to start... look out, my baby just turned 21. This maison will be having a little vin, liqueur, appetif flowing (little is the key word ;) This is quite long, I apologize sweetheart!

congrats on your beautiful sewing being in fab fifi's new book fufu!
I am just about in the same place as you are as far as paring down my life to do the things that I only truly want to do. Do you think that comes with being 50 something fufu? There is only so many hours in a day & we should fill them up with things we've put on the shelf while raising our families & working hard. I'm glad you are doing this too! xo tutts
